Past Students Association
Dear Modelians,
On the eve of Platinum Jubilee celebration of our lovable school – B.K. Model High School – I convey to everyone of you greetings and happy rememberance of the moments spent in the school as a child. We do recollect the sweet younger days spent in the school amidst our colleagues and friends. Gay laughter, silly mistakes, pretty quarrels with friends for simple reasons, harsh treatments meted out; lovable pats, childish pranks, gay games and sports, jolly excursions and joyous entertainments, little shocks and teachers peculiarities and what not – are still afresh in our mind.
Those sweet memories to bubble and blast over the sands of our mind and make them part and parcel of eventualities of our life-our senior, humblem, strict and most lovable teacher Mr. R.G. Yarguddi formed this Past Students Association with handful of members in the year 1951.
Mr. N.R. Deshpande, Mr. D.V. Deshpande and Mr. D.V. Mutalik Desai have together drafted the Constitution and Byelaws of our Association vide the CommitteeResolution dt. 13-2-1954 and the same was effective from 1954.
Since 1954 this Association was headed by eminent teachers of our school like R.H. Kulkarni; P.K. Bhagoji, and always was in the safe hands of Secretaries who were teachers of the school. Mr. Anigol, Mr. Sudhakar Shanbhag and Mr. Bhimsen Torgal also had the honour of serving our Institution as Presidents.
The contribution of this Association to our reverend school is worth mentioning. In 1977-78, during Golden Jubilee celebration, handful donation was given to the school. This Association brings all almamaters together and makes a common platform to look to the needs and desires of the school and as well – enjoy amongst themselves recollecting the past memories. We have instituted lot of prizes for both academic and sports rankers in the school. On the top ofit we had lot of programmes during the last
2 years including membership drive.
Friends, we had assured the Society of a handsome Donation of Rs. 5 lakh through our Association and past students for the Plantinum Jubilee building. And we did stand by our commitments. Thanks to every one of you to have stood by us in generous gesture.
We were fortunate enough to have been taught in this first grade school in the whole State of Karnataka and we will always be proud of it. Through this Association we have an opportunity to pay gratitude to our Almamaters. Please enroll your friends as life Members of this Association. Do actively participate in the meetings and help our society in the furtherance of knowledge and working of the school. The society and school needs your support in its allround development.
